The Observatory: Taro's World Vol 1

The nearest star in our cosmic neighbourhood, our very own Sun, resides 93 million miles away with the next, Proxima Centauri, residing 25 trillion miles away. Despite these mind boggling distances, we are a whole lot closer to these celestial bodies than we believe. From the iron in our blood to the calcium in our bones and carbon in our bodies, all were forged in the chaotic embers of ancient stars at the genesis of existence. Each of us are a symphony composed of the same instruments that brought life to our own universe, a cosmic cocktail perfectly mixed to breed the gift of consciousness within us all. 

This piece explores the simple but profound idea that from this perspective humanity is but the infinite universe becoming aware of itself.

Depicted here is humanity peering into the infinite cosmos in silent admiration of the beauty around him, the stars, galaxies and other astrological anomalies. The boundary between the observer and the observed dissolves here.  

People often search high and low, near and far for purpose, when we need not look any further than our own front door and simply remember that we are here to experience, to unwrap the gift of the present moment and life itself. This illustration is a reminder to spend time paying attention to the beauty all around us and beauty of the opportunity granted upon us to experience reality. Every high and every low.
